The Nokia 3100 is tri-band GSM handset and will come with a new range of Xpress-On covers. The phone also has the now common 4096 color screen, support for polyphonic ringing tones, and downloading of new applications via Java. It is also the first lower range phone to feature the new pop-port connector design. The new Xpress-On covers that will be available for the 3100 include some that glow in the dark as well as specific covers designed for gaming. The 3100 also features a rhythmic backlight that flashes in time with certain ring tones and games. The pop-port connector allows for Nokia's new Fun Camera accessory to be used to take photos with the phone. MMS capability, an XHTML browser and a hands free speaker are also built into the phone.
